It’s not often that any app arrives in the store and performs better than we expected. This time, it’s not only the performance but the powerful features that have changed the whole definition of a note taking app. The app is Note Anytime by MetaMoji Corporation and has been one of our rare encounters with perfectionists. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad with optimal performance experienced on iPad 2 and iPad mini. The app has also been optimized for iPhone 5 and works best on the Retina display.
Now, going with the definition, note taking is a boring procedure to write down anything from a task to be carried out to a story written for your next drama or some tips from your teacher. But with Note Anytime, you may write, type text, sketch and import images to make your own collage. There are endless features with more and more options that it may take you a whole day to take a complete tour.
The app menu allows you to create a new note along with some of premade samples available for tips and use. You can select any of the available papers as there are many including plain white paper, notebook, journal graph paper and cover pages for magazines. Though most of them are there, you can still buy more of them layouts via in-app purchases. As you are done with the paper selection, just start writing your notes as you do in your notebook. Take any type of pen/pencil in the shade you want and start moving your fingers/stylus as fluidly as you handwrite a note. More inks and Calligraphy pens can be obtained via in-app purchases. Even when you’re sketching, Note Anytime makes your drawing look just the way you want by editing the portions to the exactness just as in case of a circle or a straight line.
The movable tool palette creates enough space for you to show some creative skills by hiding to the size of a dot. Just tap the dot and it opens up into different tools like size, color, eraser, pen, text, etc. If you want to add some images, import them from library and you can resize them and change the orientation. You can write texts on them with the help of text box and place them anywhere just like creating your own comic books. You can also import web pages and PDF pages for adding annotations and reconverting back to the same PDF format. The saved documents can be sorted out by tags and folders for easy access.
Some of the stand out features of the app include: cutting out a portion and moving/editing it; vector based authoring allows you to scale down any document, image or a sketch and still see it with the same clarity on zooming in. You can also send your documents via email or share them on Twitter or Tumblr.
The app is available for free in the App Store for now but we can’t assure you of how many more days will it be like that. The app has some awesome, unique, practical never tested before features which make it like a trendsetter. We’re sure that there may be a price tag hanging around soon its name and before it happens, just grab this one. You’ll have to otherwise as well.
Pros: movable tool palette; powerful editing options; vector based authoring; support for importing web pages, images and PDF; send via email or share on Twitter and Tumblr; free.
Cons: none.
