I am a fan of adventurous games and especially those where nature plays a major role in the graphics. Not that I am against the fast moving cars cruising through the smooth roads of the city, but it’s just that greenery gives me a kind of relaxation and soothing effect that’s just incomparable. That’s why I like the games which are built inside a jungle or same goes with the cartoons. I keep on looking for these kinds of games but I can’t compromise on the gaming quotient for the jungle themed games. It seems that one such game has recently entered the App Store and fulfils all my conditions. So, let’s just check it out.
I am talking about the new iOS app, Pong! HD that has been developed by MVIEGAME. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and requires iOS 4.3 or later version of the OS. The app has a very unique game play as well as there is lot of content for the users to get addicted to. There is a character called Pong who is a tiny creature and one of its kinds but can be compared to many other creatures like a fat mouse due to same colour and size.
The situation is somewhat built in the ice age and the game play of the app goes like you have to go through all the ice slabs present on your screen. Meanwhile, you have to hit all the extra elements like trees or elephant encased in an ice slab. This way you complete each level. Each ice slab has an arrow marked on it which describes the direction Pong will follow after hitting it. This way you decide from which of the slots you want to enter which maybe present on any side of the screen.
There are two different modes: classic and endless. While the classic mode consists of several different levels, the endless mode is quite different. While in classic mode, as soon as you have covered all the elements the level is completed, in the endless mode, there are many different combinations of elements which produce new elements when eliminated. So the game keeps on expanding and the game play is not that simple and straight forward. You have to make sure that you are not attacked by any of the trees or any other such thing.
The graphics of the app are very interesting and sharply defined. It was a sheer pleasure to play it even on iPhone. However iPad is always superior both in performance and visual graphics. The characterization and animations were appreciable and funny sometimes. There is much to care about when you’re into a game and that’s what interests you more.
The app is available for free in the App Store. There is no reason that I may ask you to think about it. It’s a sure shot; so go grab yours now.
Pros: nice concept; addictive gameplay; detailed graphics; free.
Cons: the gameplay can be complex at times.
