Music is the reflection of a self. It can help you to connect with someone when talks fail. It gives life to your emotions and thoughts in the simplest way possible. Then why not to use this power of music to share your feelings with your loved ones or just the feelings you want to express to them. It may be a love letter to your crush or a ‘bye-bye’ message to your best friend, why to use words when music can express the same thing more beautifully. And this is the reason why this newly entered app has marked its place in thousands of hearts across the globe in no span of time.
Songnote is one of the latest iOS apps to have recently entered the App Store and has been developed by the Darling Group. It is compatible with iPad, iPod touch and iPhone and requires iOS 4.3 or later. It works on a simple yet very powerful idea. As you start the application, it takes you to the music screen where the current song being played is shown. You can select the existing song or change it. After selecting the song, you can add a personalized note which will be displayed as “Reminds me off …your note”. You can send this post via email to someone special or you can post it on Facebook to share with everybody. The final post will include your message, a link to the app and a iTunes link to the song you shared.
The app really does the job well. It has a unique concept and successfully executes it. First of all, you don’t have to select the song again from the app, it automatically takes you to your music player and you can change that song too. Second, it enables you to share it personally as well as with the world via Facebook. It is available for $0.99 in the App Store and has been highly rated.
However, there were some limitations which were quite irritating to us. First, there should be an option to send the song via mms from one phone to another which will be really helpful. But this is not a big issue. Second, every message starts with “Reminds me of” which sometimes does not go well with the message sent. For example, if I want to say ‘I’m happy’, then it just goes off the beat. Also, when the message is being opened up in some other phone than iOS devices, the iTunes link only shows the iTunes preview website and the details of the song. You cannot play the iTunes preview of the song.
Pros: good concept, good execution, easy to use, useful for a wide range of users.
Cons: pre-messaging text should not be included, cannot be used to send the message to a non-iOS device, functionality and adaptability can be improved.
It’s a fast app that enables you to share your thoughts with anyone instantly.
