If you are a full time student or someone who needs to take notes frequently, Lecture Scanner is the right app for you. Created by Stoik, the app will be a great companion for lectures or classes.

When you open the app for the first time, they will ask you to agree to a long terms and condition. After that, a simple page with multiple icons like camera or documents appears. By pressing the camera icon, you will be transported to be able to take a picture of the lecture note itself. You can switch between landscape and portrait sized easily for different types of notes. After taking the picture, it will be processed for quite a while by the app itself. After that, you will be able to edit the photo itself; either making it smaller or bigger. You can even process the photo yourself, with options like “Business Card” and “Receipt” available, each with varying cosmetic effects. The undo button is there to rectify any mistakes which you have too.

Another great aspect about Lecture Scanner is that I am able to share the notes from the lecture with my friends online. They have many different options, from the rudimentary Bluetooth, to Gmail and Email. You can also send through the social media network, like Whatsapp or Facebook easily. Filters are also available, customizing the brightness and colors are only just some of the app’s options. After that, you will be able to save the app.

An interesting point of Lecture Scanner is the ability to insert your own signature into the document. This is great for those who need to scan an important document but does not have time to sign it manually. The app itself is decently fast, where you will be able to scan multiple pages fairly quickly. I’d also like the fact that the app allows you to zoom and turn the photo itself with hand commands. This is a great lifesaver for me as I sometimes scan the document in the opposite direction.

However, annoying ads will pop out when I use the app time to time like “FREE GAMES TO DOWNLOAD”. There are also ads on the top of my screen. While I know that this is a free app funded solely by ads, it might be best for the developers to tone down a little on them as it may annoy a few users.

Overall, my ride with Lecture Scanner is a pleasant one. Other than the annoying ads which will pop up now and then, its other functions that are listed as above are awesome and they will certainly be great for anyone who did not listen to lectures or forget to list down their notes and had to borrow from others. I would give Lecture Scanner  4/5 for its functions.

Pros:

  • Great Functions
  • Simple User Interface
  • Able to share with friends
  • Ability to insert signature

Cons:

  • Ads will pop up
