There are so many sports in this world that even a whole event of Olympics is not able to cover them all. Recently we saw some sports being kicked out to create vacancies for the new one. Each game has countless fans and it’s also true that each fan holds a share in more than one game at a time. But when you can’t decide even the mood when your football team wins and NBA team loses, how can it be easy to remain updated with the news, media and scores of all of them? Searching out web for each individual report sounds difficult and we need a solution much like the sports edition of a newspaper on our phone. So, what can it be?
I think that SportsStreet’s developers have found the correct answer to our answer and that’s why they are leading from the front in the Social Networking section of the App Store. I am talking about SportStreet, the new iOS app that has been developed by SPORT STREET. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and requires iOS 5.0 or later version of the OS. The app has also been optimized for iPhone 5.
You can login the app either with Facebook or creating a new account, but the former method is better as it is fast and helps you transfer your contacts in your friends list that are already using SportStreet. Then you can add various teams to your “My Teams” section. The homepage contains many different tabs such as Wall, My Teams, pictures, videos, scores, my friends, my profile, etc. The wall serves as your Facebook wall while the pictures section shows you all the images from various sports on Instagram.
The app is like a conglomerate of the news, videos, pictures and tweets from many different fields of sports. It could be laid out flat as the sports section of Google News, but the developer did the very right thing by converting it to a social platform. Even now, there are stories and breaking news about your teams including videos and pictures, but what’s interesting is that they are like posts collected from various sources such as Twitter, Instagram and other news articles published on web. So, you can like them, comment on them, share them on Facebook and even upload videos and pictures of your own. So, it’s a whole new way of sports awareness and mass communication.
I won’t say that the UI of the app is very clean, but still we couldn’t have a better layout as there are so many in-depth controls over the content such as filters, different sections, etc. I liked that there is a separate homepage to switch as it saves from a congested display of several options.
The app is available for free in the App Store. I think this is a one stop for all sports fans. So, I don’t think I need to ask you to download it.
Pros: many different sports such as NBA, Tennis included; news, pictures and videos from different sources; intelligent way of mass communication; free.
Cons: the UI is a bit overloaded with options and tabs.
