Predator Digital Clock : Right Out of the Movie,now on Your iPhone

If you are a fan of science fiction movies, the Predator series, especially the original Predator no doubt ranks right up there on your must-watch list. Besides that rugged, warrior like look the aliens had, one very cool addition to the Predator’s personality was that awesome looking high-tech clock timer the alien used on his wrist. Of course, the symbols and the measurement of time was purely in an alien language with no way for Arnie to know what is said, except that it was going to go boom at that time.

But thanks to developer Gilthonwe Apps, the Predator digital clock, complete with all the fancy alien symbols in their full digital glory, can now be downloaded to you iDevice and used as your personal statement to keep track of time. This is no ordinary clock with just a Predator skin to it, but all the digits are actually displayed in the Alien language, exactly like in the movie. The default colour of the clock digits is that cool glowing red like in the Predator movie, but you can change it to a colour that you prefer.

There are two language modes for the symbol display, to choose from – Easy and Hard. The Hard one, obviously is more complicated to read and remember, and there is the easy mode which will also take some getting used to but can be mastered over a period of time. Of course, the conversion to English can always be checked out at any point of time, lest you get confused with all the alien symbols. But it is a nice experience to have someone peeping at your phone wondering what thos strange symbols on your display may mean.

The app has all the standard functions of a digital clock app. You can choose to display the time in 12 hour or 24 hour format, as well as to display the date and the day of the week. Timer and alarm functionality is also included, with some really unique Predator screams and sounds. Now that’s sure to wake you up in the morning. Snooze mode is inbuilt, and you can use it to get those extra 10 minutes of sleep we all crave for in the morning. You also have the ability to add your own music or sounds for the alarm, but unfortunately the app only picks that up if it is active. If it is running in the background, or closed, it will automatically play the default sounds programmed into the app, and not the custom sounds that you may have set.

The UI is nice and slick, and does give that eerie alien touch. The colours are easily customizable, and the symbol animations are smooth and pretty eye catching. Overall, this is a unique type of a digital clock app. The Predator Digital clock is compatible with all devices running iOS 4.3 but is optimized for the IPhone 5 and can be downloaded from the App Store for $0.99.
