I’m a big fan of word games. They are a great source of time-killing devices and help you work out your mind juices as well. There are many word games like scrabble, crosswinder, vocabulary quiz, etc which have been pretty successful in the market. But still, these games are under-scorer as compared to other games like Temple Run, Angry Birds, etc. The reason is the dull visuals that a player has to deal with while playing these kinds of games. But we know that these games are far more helpful for children. So what will you do when you want your children to eat soup and avoid pizzas? Of course, soups are so distasteful that even you won’t have the courage to eat them. So you’ll add some spices that will make it tastier. The same criterion has been adopted here with Falling Words.

I am talking about the latest iOS app called Falling Words. The app has been developed by RT gaming and is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and requires iOS 5.1 or any later version of the OS. The app has also been optimized for iPhone 5.

Falling Words is a game where your sole purpose is to create words and the choice is yours of what the word will be. You can either create short words or you can create long complex words depending upon the words you get and how you arrange them. Now, words will be flying on parachutes. You have to tap each parachute and let the word drop to the bottom rows. Now, before tapping it you must be sure about the word you are trying to create because once settled, the words can’t be rearranged. So either you’ll have to rethink a new word quickly or you can start a new word by destroying it. I said “quickly” because you’ll always be running against time.

Each word will have some points attached to it. When you create a word, points of all the words will be summed up and will add to your score. There are three gaming modes: play against computer, play against your friends or play randomly against an opponent online. While the first option is merely for practice, the other two are interesting and challenging. You can challenge any person and see who scores more points. Moreover, there are some powers like you can steal a word from your opponent or you can see his/her letters. These power ups can be bought in exchange of your points you’ve got winning the games.

The graphics of the game are surely better than many other word games. The game requires a perfect coordination of eyes, fingers and brain. If anyone is missing, you’re out of the league. Gameplay is addictive and playing against others is always a challenge as you never know your opponent. The app comes for free and is a treat to get your hands on!

Pros: amazing graphics; addictive gameplay; 3 gaming modes; multiplayer; free.

Cons: none.
