Voice assistant is not a new concept to be introduced in the mobile industry. Though Apple may be given the credit to have invented it in the form it’s used nowadays, it has opened up to almost every electronic device possible. You can use it in your laptops, iPads, mobile phones, etc. Google has integrated this voice assistant very effectively with its Map services and almost everyone uses it for navigation and other purposes across the globe. These voice assistants not only save you from typing all what you are searching for but provide you with a fast alternate option and give a better performance than normal search. But none of them is perfect and there is always some room for improvement. But most of the times it’s about the accuracy of the assistant in understanding the piece of speech. So if you have any problem with Siri, you may check out this new one!

I am talking about the latest iOS app called Speaktoit Assistant that has been developed by Speaktoit. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and requires iOS 6.0 or any later version of the OS. The app has also been optimized for iPhone 5.

Talking about the assistant, it has got all the features that one can think of. You can use it to search for anything on internet or explore your phone as well. But as I said, a voice assistant is better than plain search because it understands what you mean. For example, if you ask if it’s cold in New York or not, then it will show you the temperature in the region or if you ask to show you the route to nearest restaurant, you won’t have to open the Maps application first as it’ll automatically take you there. It also helps you connect to various web services such as Facebook, Evernote, Twitter, Wikipedia, etc. So it’s like a human with a small IQ because it’s obviously not as intelligent as a human.

It supports many different languages including English, Spanish, Russian, German, Japan, French and Portuguese and the figures are certainly not as magical as Siri. But what more do you get is an option to choose an avatar for your assistant as per your choice. You can choose either a blonde girl or a handsome agent and there are many more options.

The app is available for free in the App Store. However, the complete app will cost you $19.99 for the lifetime premium membership. Also, keeping every language is not a smart option when each one of them has its own price and you have to use only one of them. So you can buy different voice packs for different accents via in-app purchase for $0.99 for each one of them. The app overall is decent and has some new features that may attract users of Siri.

Pros: different avatars available with different voices; connect with web services like Facebook, Twitter, etc; multi-lingual support; free.

Cons: none.

I will give this app 4.5 out of 5 stars.
