Encrypt A Pic – Hide Your Secrets!

An image can tell a whole story in just a moment. It is a description in itself. Encrypt A Pic is a photo related app that has recently arrived in the App store. The app has been developed by Light Paint Pro and is compatible with all IOS devices including I Phone, iPod touch (4th generation) and I Pad and requires IOS 4.0 or later. The main purpose of the app is to allow you to hide a photo and the app makes the process very easy. You just have to follow 3 simple steps. Import a photo from your camera roll or just take a new one. Then, set a combination for this photo which is a 4 digit password. Then, just move the slider to “lock image” option and it’s done. Similarly, you can decrypt a photo following the same procedure by entering the combination and moving the slider to “unlock image”. No more compressing the files first and those long complex mechanisms to follow.

The user interface is very simple. Also, the in-app photo capturing ability is very useful. However, there are a few limitations or restrictions on the photos to be encrypted. All the images with resolution greater than 1000 pixels will be will be scaled to fit the maximum size i.e. 1000 pixels. That’s a little bit harsh as many of the quality images are much bigger than 1000 pixels. Still, it can be managed as it is only required for the ones to be hidden and mostly, they are not so much high quality.

The free version comes with most of the functions like decrypting of encrypting photos, taking photos within the app, auto detecting encrypted images, etc. You can also upgrade the app for just $0.99 and then, you can save an encrypted photo to your camera roll and also mail these photos to your friends. Your friends can decrypt the photo and see it using the free app. So, they do not need to buy the upgraded version.

Overall, the app is interesting and pretty useful. The app is available in both free and upgraded versions, which is good as far as those users are concerned who only have to store that photo for a limited amount of time and then delete it. However, there could have been some more integration like Facebook or Twitter where you could post your images which were only visible to your selected friends. Also, the same thing should be available for videos too. So, keep an eye on the app for more updates.
