Teaching to children is probably the hardest job according to me. However, if it’s done with love, care and responsibility, it’s not more than spending time with them. Infant babies don’t have a language to communicate but if something is repeatedly shown or told to them, they start getting the point. For example, if you give your baby boy a ball to play with, he doesn’t know what to do with it and will start eating it as well. However if you keep telling him to throw it to you, he will finally do it himself. That’s how teachers work as they keep telling them regularly about different words and finally they start recognizing them. But it certainly requires a lot of patience and if you are not, the least you can do is go to iTunes and download Tidy Up and start playing with your kids while teaching them.

I am talking about the latest iOS app called Tidy Up! that has been developed by Wirenode. The app is compatible with iPad only and requires iOS 5.1.1 or any later version of the OS.

As the name suggests, Tidy Up teaches your children vocabulary using a very neat and clean game. Your child will be cleaning different rooms but don’t take it to be child labour as it’s only a matter of taps to clean the rooms. Each room consists of many different objects lying here and there and it’s the job of the child to place them at their right places. But where is the education part? Actually, as you tap any object, it will speak its personal info in English. When you move it to the right place, it will again leave a message. However, if you place it somewhere wrong, it’ll give you the advice to place it back at its correct position. So the game is pretty simple and intuitive to play making sure your child doesn’t get confused at any point.

The graphics of the game are children friendly. In fact, they seem to be cut outs of comic books as there are toys, utensils and other household items all over the scene. A child can relate every room of the game with his/her own house. For example, the design of the kitchen is pretty the same what you would find in a normal house. So it helps the children to implement the same things in reality as well. The colours are not so vibrant neither dull but have a perfect combination of simplicity and game-like environment.

There are 50 different objects for the children to learn in a number of rooms. Additionally, there are some puzzles as well for your child to solve. So overall, I think there’s a lot of stuff to keep your child busy for days.

The app is available for free in the App Store. However, the free version comes with only a few rooms unlocked. To get access to the rest, you’ll have to buy the paid version which is available for just $0.99. So it’s not a big price to count on and make sure you check out this app in the App Store!

Pros: children-friendly graphics; simple gameplay; 50 objects to learn; additional puzzles; free version available.

Cons: none.

I will give this app 4.5 out of 5 stars.
