Whenever it comes to transfer files between your iPhone and your computer, the process is nothing less than a headache. Using iTunes is not that much harder, but why can’t we just drag and drop or send a file like a laptop? Going further ahead, if we could arrange something so that we could transfer these files without any wires or USB, wouldn’t it be great? We have Bluetooth as an option but then the option is pretty difficult to use especially due to much low speed than a USB. Well there is a solution and that is using Wi-Fi or LAN on your local network. This way neither does you require any internet connection and you can send files and documents wirelessly. Let’s explore this option out and check out how it works.

The idea I just gave you is not credited to me but Online Publishing Partners Limited Liability Company. Actually they are the developers of this new iOS app called WiFly Pro. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and requires iOS 5.0 or any later version of the OS. The app has also been optimized for iPhone 5.

This is how the app works. First make sure that your computer and your idevice both are connected to the same LAN or WLAN because only then can this local network be used to share files. Now open www.wifly.me on your computer browser and open the app on your iPhone. Then press the scan button on your phone and scan the QR code present on the screen. Then both of these devices will be connected and a file manager will appear on your phone. Then you can simply drag and drop all the files you want as well as you can preview them if they are compatible with your device. So you can open files, read them, play them from a remote device without a need to transfer them to your phone.

The UI of the app is pretty intuitive and easy to understand. The drag and drop controls make it a matter of seconds for you to transfer all the required files. Also the ability to read and play them remotely is just amazing. It’s pretty easy to connect to any mobile device as well. Overall I think it’s one of the best apps that have been released recently.

The app is available for free in the App Store. Now you don’t need to stand back and wait for the prices to come down. The only thing that can happen at this time is that the prices might go up because it’s a very simple app with a great usability and the users are also giving good response. In any case, I would ask anyone of you to give this app a try for sure.

Pros: intuitive UI: ability to preview pictures, play songs and read docs; transfer files without any cloud service or internet connection; free.

Cons: can be used on a local network only without internet.
