It’s always said that the soul of a place resides in its streets. You can drive endlessly along the highways of the city and catch the highest skyscrapers with some of the wealthiest people of the world living in them, but that’s a picture portrayed over the original one. So no matter how many prestigious restaurants or fast food chains are out there, the authentic flavour comes from the Street Food only. Just go for a short walk across the city roads and you’d know what that part of the world is famous for. But being a local does not mean that you know everything about your place. There are still so many places to hang out with your friends that you might not be aware of and which are not on internet radar. These are the places I’m talking about and all these places have one single address from now on – ShareWhere.

I’m talking about the new iOS app called ShareWhere that has been developed by Mike Leahing. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and requires iOS 7.0 or any later version of the OS. This app has also been optimized for iPhone 5.

ShareWhere is a place where you can check in, find your spot and check out. There are so many posts from other members that you can just spend hours going through them. A post can be about any place that you’ve visited and liked. So just take a click of yours and add a small caption to it, something that engages other minds. The more likes you get, the more popular you are. You can also like other members’ posts and you can even comment on them without showing your username. If you think you’ve been to that place before and feel connected to it, go share your feeling. So it’s like you’re sitting in a class, debating on the topic going on but you don’t mark your attendance.

The intuitive user interface of ShareWhere allows you to find the most happening places around you instantly. Just select the ‘closest’ tab and you’ll get posts related to all the places that are near around you. There are some other options as well such as the most popular posts or the latest ones.

There are so many apps regarding local restaurants and clubs in the App Store, but this one is certainly out of league. First, the posts have been cut short to a photo only. The captions are funny and straight on to the photo. If you like it, then the pinned map takes you straight down to the location. There are no messed up complex procedures to create a post. Nor are there any extra features such as reviews or number of your friends visiting the place. This dish is plain and simple with the most natural flavours only.

The app is available for free in the App Store. Make sure you check it out now!

Pros: intuitive UI; funny and useful posts; no need to leave your username behind while commenting; free.

Cons: none.

I will give this app 4.5 out of 5 stars.
