World is full of questions. Just take a casual look around you and you’ll find enough for the day. Why is the sky blue? Who blows the wind? If the earth is revolving, why don’t I see it? Who invented electricity? There are answers for all these questions available in the books and on the internet. But the actual question is: have “you” got the answer? The questions might vary depending upon your location. For example, if you’re standing right in the middle of Hollywood, the first question that pops up in your mind will be “is this the same place where Brad Pitt lives?” But all you need is the curiosity and zeal to learn more and know more. These are the people that you see in “Who wants to be a millionaire?” Well, we’re about to start a similar game, with a little twist.
I am talking about the latest iOS app called The Great Quiz that has been developed by Equasoft. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and requires iOS 7.0 or any later version of the OS. This app has also been optimized for iPhone 5.
The downside of every quiz is that after attempting a few questions, you get frustrated. It’s even more if your answers are wrong. But in any case, you feel like playing for nothing. But, this Great Quiz is a very interesting game. Though it’s a quiz, it’s not intended to puzzle you up. In fact, after being a part of this quiz, you’ll feel relaxed. There are seven different topics to choose from with more than 2000 questions and all these questions have been divided between thirty different levels of gameplay that you have to clear one by one. But you’re not expected to clear these levels individually and keep unlocking the new ones. In fact, you’ll start from level one and keep playing from level to level. For each level that you can’t clear, you’ll lose life and therefore the less you lose, the farther you go. If we look at it carefully, the gameplay is not much different but just the addition of a gaming element adds that secret ingredient missing from a delicious dish to be served.
I really liked the quality of the questions. They are not general questions like the ones I put up above. The developer has really put in some extra effort in research and it pays off. The seven categories are: Music, History, Geography, Literature, Movies, Various and Science and together they cover everything you can possibly think of. Before taking the challenge, you can also first hone your skills in the training mode. So it doesn’t matter if you’re preparing for an exam or curious to know your world or just want to relax, this app is for everyone.
Coming back to the little twist I mentioned above, this quiz might make you a millionaire one day, but for now you’ll have to earn it. Though the app’s available for free, the full version costs you $2.99. So make sure you grab it today in the App Store!
Pros: interesting gameplay; 30 different levels; more than 2000 questions; 7 different topics; training mode; free.
I will give this app 4.5 out of 5 stars.
