HIIT, the acronym for High Intensity Interval Training, is a relatively new form of training program which helps you lose out your body fat and increase both aerobic and anaerobic system considerably. It’s a short-duration program which is heavily concentrated with different sorts of activities. But because the duration is short, you need to use the time efficiently and even a single second can’t be afforded to lose. A stringent plan is required therefore, well laid out and defined neatly. But you can’t watch your wrist watch every time you need to switch to the next exercise, can you? Neither can a simple stop watch come helpful in such conditions where the whole interval has to be divided into a number of sub-intervals of different length. So how are you going to keep track of your training schedule?
Don’t worry as I’ve got something very interesting for you. It’s called Interval Timer which is the new Android app that has been developed by halmi.sk. The app is compatible with all the devices running Android 4.0 or any later version of the OS.
Interval Timer is a complete package. Here you can record your workouts, keep a log of them, save them on cloud and you can even share them with the world. Let’s explore each of these features one by one. Creating your workouts takes nothing more than envisaging the same in your mind. A workout can contain any number of activities. Each activity is defined by its name, time duration and the type of activity it is. The type of activity is defined by its MET (Metabolic Equivalent of Task) number which tells you how vigorous that particular activity is. It helps you measure the calorie count at the end of a particular workout. Oh yes! This app also counts your burnt calories.
After you’ve created a workout, you can reshuffle the activities up and down as you want. You can even copy them. For example, rest comes in-between every two intervals and now you can copy it again and again.
Every time you perform a workout, it’s recorded in your workout log. So you can keep a proper check on your routine being followed strictly. You can even export these logs to .csv file or upload them to Cloud. Sharing is another hand that you can extend to your friends as a help and let them know what the secret of your health is. As you follow your workout schedules, you’ll unlock achievements. These in-app rewards are meant to encourage you and keep you on the right track.
Interval Timer uses a pretty neat & clean interface that’s user-friendly as well as gives the app an elegant touch of finish. The themes are beautiful and navigation is very smooth.
Let me clear one thing straight that Interval Timer is not only for high-intensity training programs. You can use it for boxing, cycling, running or any activity that requires being timely-supervised.
So overall, Interval Timer is a pretty handy app that’s user-friendly and feature-packed. You’d love it. The app is available for free in the Play Store.
Pros: user-friendly; neatly designed; custom workouts; calorie-meter; share workouts; unlock achievements; free.
Cons: none.
I will give this app 4.5 out of 5 stars.
