We all know almost everything about our home from the number of rooms to the number of stairs. After all, that’s our home sweet home and there are numerous such sweet memories associated with each corner of that small space. But if I ask you how many states are there in your country, can you answer that with the same confidence? After all, that’s your homeland and the home to your home. But many of you’d be uncertain even about the capital of their own state, even when they’re living in the same capital. It’s because Geography is boring for many. It’s difficult to memorise so many words when you have hardly seen only one or two places out of them. It makes sense somewhere down the line and that’s why here we have a new interactive way to help you learn all those names along with their location on the map. It’s called GeographiQ!
GeographiQ is the latest Android app that has been developed by AppForMore AB. The app is compatible with all the devices running Android 4.0 or a later version of the OS.
GeographiQ has been designed with the sole aim to make your learning quick and effective. What we normally do is learn the names of the capital cities followed by their respective states but after some time, we jumble them up and we know what happens when we mix glue with water; we have to dump them both. To avoid such a situation, what GeogrphiQ brings new on the table is that it shows you the location on the map and then asks you the name of the place. GeographiQ covers the entire globe and therefore the asked question can belong to several classes.
There are many different quizzes available and you can pick one of them. The world has been divided into six continents and they’re further subdivided into countries, states, capitals, cities, departments and there’s a separate section for flags. So whatever area you want to concentrate upon and improve your knowledge of, just pick it up and start answering. Random questions will come your way with four options available to each answer and you have to pick one. In case you’re stuck between two choices, you can use a lifeline of 50-50. You must be aware of its consequences but in case you’re not, then it deletes two options and now you have to pick a choice out of the remaining two making your job much easier than before.
There’s a score meter running at the top along with the number of questions that you have faced. You may fail at first few attempts but soon after the changes will follow and your score sheet will reflect the improvements. You’d soon be able to recognize each sector by its name or vice-versa. So there’s a lot of knowledge to collect here.
While it’s a slick app designed very beautifully, it’d be better if the quiz section could be shorter divided into say 10 questions per quiz. It’d help the user rate his performance better and quicker.
Overall, this is a great educational app and what’s even better is that it’s available for free in the Play Store. So what are you waiting for!
Pros: slick design; multiple quizzes; recognize countries and capitals by location and flags by images; 50-50 lifeline; score-meter; free.
Cons: none.
I will give this app 4.5 out of 5 stars.
