If you have some old books in the market, you can always find a dealer in the market who’ll buy it from you (though at negligible prices as compared to the market rate). But if you have an old lamp post or say a trolley you’ve used for years, can you name me the address to find dealers for them? I don’t expect any answer from you because there isn’t any. You may look in your neighbourhood or talk to your friends, but you’ll finally be compelled to either give them in scrap or throw away without a penny coming in your pocket. Now, place yourself on the other side i.e. a buyer. If you need an old sofa, you really have no option other than bargaining for a new one until and unless you unexpectedly hit on a person on the street with an inscription on his forehead “Need a Sofa?” But the old days are over. We have Visho now!

I’m talking about Visho, the new iOS app that has been developed by Buddyhaha Pty Ltd. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and requires iOS 7.0 or any later version of the OS. This app has also been optimized for iPhone 5.

Visho is a buyer/seller’s marketplace, just like our traditional markets where you buy groceries and other stuff from. But let me tell you that it’s not reserved for old/new stuff or any particular class of items; it can be anything. Suppose you’re a painter and you want to sell your paintings. Now getting it to an exhibition takes more talent than painting a new one unless your father is the owner of an art gallery. So now you can just make a video of it, like a snippet and upload it on the Visho network. You can add tags to make it easier for the potential buyers search for it and you can also set a price tag which may be negotiable depending upon your preferences. So all and all, your product is up on the market display and anyone interested may find it easily. If someone contacts you, there are chatting options to take the proceedings further.

While you’re putting your products for sale, you may check out the feed of your friends and neighbourhood to check out what they’re buying and make sure you’re always in touch with the latest trends. After all, a seller can be a buyer as well and a good buy always counts. All the transactions are are secured via PayPal. So your money is in safe hands. If you’re looking for a particular item, simply search for it. You can refine the search and limit it to your nearby locations and if you find your item, the map will show the distance and the route to the seller’s address. So it’s very aptly composed into that 5-inch screen of your iPhone. The tabs on the bottom make navigation very simple and easy on your hands.

Overall, Visho is a marketplace that’s the need of the hour. So go and check it out. There are not entry charges. It’s available for free in the App Store.

Pros: beautifully composed interface; slick navigation; sell/buy; map integration; free.

Cons: none.

I will give this app 4.5 out of 5 stars.
