We have seen previously in games like Puzzle Quest that a simple game can be turned violent by introducing RPG elements. Just take-in some players with different characteristics and powers on the paper and make them battle each other on the paper itself. Continue this for the complete journey and you can expect a huge crowd to gather around their mobile device playing your game. But yes, you need to develop a strategic play that’s new and addictive. If you have played Kingdoms CCG on Facebook, then you know what I’m talking about. It’s a game of cards, but definitely not a Black jack or Poker. You are in a battle against the odds and you have to emerge out as a winner. The game has been very popular on Facebook and now it has been brought to iOS.
This new iOS app called Kingdoms CCG has been developed by YMC Games. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and requires iOS 5.0 or any later version of the OS.
The gameplay of Kingdoms CCG is a little bit tricky and difficult to understand for the very first time and that’s why they have included some tutorials to make you understand what you’ve got to do. Basically, there are some cards with different powers. You are playing as a hero and you’ve got your own guards to protect you and the actual battle takes place in-between your and enemy’s guards. There is an attack and defence value associated with each card and you have to play accordingly. For example, if your enemy is playing an attacking card, then you have to make sure that your card can fight and defend as well. If yours cannot attack, it’ll be killed and so will be you.
The more battles you win, the more cards you get which you can add to your army and use in the next games. There are more than 200 such cards which you can collect and add to your collection. You can be a part of 6 kingdoms including Ancient, Holy, Mystical, Elemental, Undead and Alchemy. The main essence of the game is in player v/s player games where you can be a part of real time battles. Though you can continue with the single player campaign as well, but when two sharp minds are working against each other for the same thing, then nothing can be better than that.
The graphics of the game are very sharp and crispy. When there are more than 200 cards in the game with different characters, then you need to make sure that each one of them bears a unique character and that’s what we see here. Everyone from bear to sheep as well as swords have been roped in and a wonderful set of cards we get.
Overall, the game is very addictive. It’s available for free in the App Store. So just go and start battling.
Pros: amazing graphics; strategic game play; PVP battles; free.
Cons: none.
I will give this app 4.5 out of 5 stars.
