I am not very good at word puzzles but certainly they are one of the most appealing and interesting games to me where your actual knowledge about vocabulary is tested. But sometimes I get fed up of more and more new words and want to just use the ones that I know but are of no use in these games. So now I have this game in my pocket that understands me and is even more interesting and clever than most other games. I think you should try it as well.

I am talking about the new iOS app, Word Drift Puzzle that has been developed by tmeta.com. The app is compatible with all the devices running Android 2.3 or any later version of the OS. The game is very simple to play, but has many hidden aspects that will be surprising you at times. You must have played 15-puzzle games where you have four rows and four columns consisting of different parts of a picture and there is one square empty. Then you have to move all the squares and join the different parts to take out the complete picture. This word game works on a similar concept but not exactly.

The game platform is a 6×6 board consisting of many different alphabetical tiles and few empty spaces. But all tiles are not the same. Some are pinned at one point and you have to unpin them to move them around while there are some which are completely fixed blocks covering the tiles of letters beneath them and can’t be moved at all. These immovable tiles make it difficult for you to freely use all the letters available to you as some letters are blocked on all the four sides and can’t be moved. But there is no problem without a solution and that’s why the developer has equipped you with explosive tiles. These tiles help you to burst out the adjacent tiles and sometimes even the complete rows.

As soon as you make a word, just swipe it to submit it. But remember, the most important aspect of the game is time which is always running short and as you create more and more words, you get some time as well. Though the game seems to be just a word puzzle, but it is a lot more than that. You have to strategically arrange all the difficult letters that are of no use to you such that you can blow them all way in a single explosion.

I found the app very good. There are four different categories with 20 levels each with each one of them requiring speed, accuracy and skill to handle the building pressure. There are some hidden items such as sticky notes which add to your total. So, it covers every aspect of an interesting game. Also, it is available for free and you can’t ask for anything more than that.

Pros: many different games merged into one; nice combination of 15-puzzle and word game; free.

Cons: none.
