Before the entry of live wallpapers in the market, all we knew about wallpapers was a picture that was still and that’s it. Though there were many beautiful captures and with the wallpaper themes introduced by Windows that kept switching in between the stills, most of the boredom was already lost. But still there wasn’t any such interface that you could interact with and this gap filled up with the Android 2.1 OS coming in the market. It introduced live wallpapers which were more like animated movies allowing user input as well and we know one thing that once anything comes into the market, there are many further improvements in it. So today we have one such live wallpaper app in the store to review. Let’s see how much it scores on our meter!
I am talking about the new Android app called Fancy Balloon. The app has been developed by Dermond and can be found under the Entertainment section. The app is compatible with all the Android devices running Android 2.1 or any later version of the OS. Let’s take a look at its features.
After installing the app, you won’t find it in the app dictionary. That’s because it only consists of wallpaper and you can launch it from the home screen. Just touch the home screen and hold your finger until a menu appears. Then go to wallpapers > live wallpapers and from there you can select our wallpaper. If you have any other live wallpaper installed as well, then you’ll find all of them there.
Talking about the wallpaper itself, it is full of colourful elements. It depicts a scene from a magical amusement park that is full of rides and balloons. There is a girl standing in the middle of the park holding some balloons. As a part of interaction, you have to tap the flying balloons so that the girl can have them as well. As per the instructions of the Play Store page of the app, after tapping 10 balloons, there would be an ad. However, all I found was a closing pop up and whenever I tapped on that ‘close’ button, the session would start again. So there were no ads for me.
The wallpaper is really a beautiful piece of fantasy and animation. It is perfect for your home screen. However, the dominating pink colour of the amusement park and with a little girl standing in the middle, it’s more on the feminine side and you’d hardly find it on any guy’s phone. The wallpaper is available for free but if you’ve a big phone something like S3 or HTC One X, then there are many better wallpaper available in the Play Store for free as well. But finally it all depends upon your choice and likes & dislikes. So don’t forget to take a look at this app.
Pros: decent graphics; colourful elements; perfect for little girls; free.
Cons: not suitable for guys; better wallpaper available in the market for free.
