Do you have a pet? Personally speaking, I don’t because it takes too many efforts to take care of them. It’s true that they become friends with you and it’s an unconditional relationship, but I can’t imagine a dog sleeping with me on my bed and the next day I’m lying in some pool of stinking liquid. No hard feelings though for those who do and they really love their pet, whether it be a dog, cat, mouse or a fish. In case of fish, the relationship is rather complex with you and your pet never playing actually and you still caring for it by heart. It is also the most difficult job to keep track of water level, contamination and safety for the poor. Many people actually have a log book to keep track of all the daily events like PH control, maintenance and much more. But what if you could give your mind some rest and leave it to your phone??
We are talking about the new Android app, Aquarium Logbook that has been developed by Mark Heinis and requires Android 2.3 or later version. The app, as the name says, is a digital logbook which can be used to keep track of all the data related to your fish tank. Most times you write it down on a page daily to avoid any sudden changes. Then why not to add it in the phone memory and get some statistical info as well!
First of all, select the type of tank you have: Fresh water aquarium, salt water aquarium or reel tank. Then, go to the test section and add the PH value you found. Every time you add a test result, it is automatically to the app’s logs to plot a graph of all the values to present to you in a simpler way any deviation in the water content. Then, you can choose the type of maintenance schedule you would like to follow i.e. weekly, monthly or other. It is also a common practice to put a name to your pet. Add this info along with the fish specimen, date of purchase and other specs in the fish log. These things help you to monitor your pet better.
With intuitive UI, there is not much to talk about the graphics. Appearance is good and a good modified version of a boring logbook. The graphs are a nice addition and good way to measure the results. The app is available for free and is rated for everyone. It has been doing very well since last few days in the market.
We liked the app and we don’t know much about how many fish-feeders are there with an Android device. But if you do, this app is for you. It has everything for you and easy to use as well. Why to go for those logbooks when you can have one for free in your pocket!
Pros: intuitive UI, suitable for all three tanks, plot results with help of graphs, free.
Cons: none.
