What is the most memorable about your school? Is it the first day of your class or is it the first time when you met your best friend? Or is it the lunch time when you used to eat your home made food with your friends and share with them? There are so many memories but one that I remember is carrying a diary in my bag where I used to note down the complete schedule of my daily classes, upcoming tests and the homework as well. I burst out laughing whenever I remember that because in college days, I had almost left the habit of carrying books. But still that diary was probably more important than any of the subject books and when there is a electronic solution to every problem, whey not for this one!

I am talking about the latest iOS app called My School that has been developed by Paul Production. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and requires iOS 5.0 or any later version of the OS. The app has also been optimized for iPhone 5.

My School app has everything to build a school diary. It’s divided into three sections: time, vote and task. The time section has the customizable calendar where you can add subjects along with their timings. To add a subject, just tap the + button at the top right and then you can add all the relevant information such as name of the teacher, email id, notes, etc. so you can just tap on any subject and see its details.

Then you come to the voting section where you can add votes for each subject and an overall average of the total votes will automatically be calculated. Then you can take a look at the average votes for different months as well. To add a vote, you have to just select any subject and tap on the + button at the top right of the screen. You can also delete these votes later.

The third and the last section is the Task section where you can add related tasks, exams, notes, homework along with the corresponding dates. These dates will be linked to the first section i.e. time section and therefore a dot will be indicated in the calendar against the date.

The feel of the app is not formal and the developers have tried to keep it as close to your diary as possible. The font is informal and there are many different colours used to distinguish in between different subjects. There is no difference when it comes to the usability as well. It’s very simple to be used by young children in their school and stylish to be used by college students.

The app is available for $0.99 in the App Store and you should buy it.

Pros: intuitive UI; informal feel to the app; appropriate for young children as well as college students.

Cons: none.

I will give this app 4.5 out of 5 stars.
