Football is undisputedly the most celebrated sport of the world. It’s not only the largest fan base that this amazing game enjoys but also the level of dedication and passion each sport lover has for each and every second that belongs to those precious 90 minutes of every game. It’s a game of surprises, a game of suspense and a game that brings smile over millions of faces and at the same time breaks many hearts. Whatever the odds say at the start of the game, a goal at the very last minute is enough to change the winning heads. So while you admire those strong legs of the striker, today we’re going to change the rules a little bit. What about playing with hands or to be more specific, fingers? After all, you can’t always play with your legs, at least not inside library. Many of you would argue to change the title as well then. So let’s call it KukaBall.

I’m talking about the iOS app called KukaBall that has been developed by Arda Alpman. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and requires iOS 8.0 or any later version of the OS. This app has also been optimized for iPhone 5.

KukaBall is a flip side of the original version for some obvious reasons. Here you’ll be dribbling down the ball with your index and middle fingers and take a shot with the same when the right opportunity comes. But wait! Who’s the goalkeeper? Well, actually it’s a cone. Yes, you heard it right! A cone will be defending the goalpost and believe me you can’t find a better goalkeeper than it. While you can analyze a “human” goalkeeper and take the shot accordingly, here you can’t predict the movement of this cone. Plus, you’d get a 45 second window to score as many goals as possible. So your aim is not just to bluff this clever cone but to keep doing it continuously.

You can try many different combinations and moves to score. You can dribble the ball using short swipes, cover some distance and then take a shot or you can go for the long shoot directly. You can also pass the ball to the side walls and shoot when you get it back. The other possibility is to watch for the right angle to shoot at the wall and score. So you have a long range of variations in your back-pack that you can try in that short timely window.

The graphics are basic with smooth animations but that’s why this game works so addictively on your mind. You have nothing else to think about other than breaking your own previous record. Right now, the developer himself holds the record for maximum number of goals at 21. That’s obviously quite a challenge to beat. So what are you waiting for? Get started!

The app is available for $0.99 in the App Store.

Pros: addictive gameplay; smooth animations; 45 seconds to score; challenging.

Cons: none.

I will give this app 4.5 out of 5 stars.
