When you’re getting late for your office and suddenly you realize that your car keys are not where they should be, it’s the most annoying feeling. Suddenly the whole world becomes a reason for your loss when you know that it’s your own fault for misplacing them. So you finally end up fighting with your wife and when you finally find the keys, you regain your consciousness but the milk has already been spilled. It’s not the best of the start for your day and definitely not a good mood to enter your office with. So let’s go back to where it all started. You misplaced your keys when you came last night as usual but you instantly got a notification. So you start looking and you find them before they’re actually “lost”. But this change of screenplay wouldn’t have been possible if you weren’t notified at the right time, right?

So if you’re frustrated with this silly habit of yours, you need not curse yourself every day but you can opt for a simple solution. I’m talking about the latest iOS app called Find My Stuff that has been developed by Open Media OOO. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and requires iOS 8.0 or any later version of the OS.

Find My Stuff actually keeps track of all your valuable items. All you need is a iBeacon or a Bluetooth Beacon device attached to each such item so that this app can help you track it. You can assign a location to every item which will be considered its fixed position. So every time an item is not available at its usual position, you’ll automatically be notified. So if your item is stolen or you somehow put it at any other place, you’ll instantly get a message before your item gets mysteriously lost. You can also set a range of proximity between you and your items. So say you have set a proximity range of 100 meters for your wallet. Then if you forget it at a restaurant, you’d soon figure out the problem before it’s too late.

You can add as many items as you want to track via this app. If you want to make sure they’re all safe, you can check them all in the in-app map where their locations are readily available. You can also read the location history of each object individually which shows the different locations where that particular item was kept before. Also, when you’re home you can turn off all notifications with just a tap on Silent Mode.

Find My Stuff is compatible with a variety of Beacons including Trackr, g-Tag, BlueUp, BlueCats, Nokia, HTC, Jaalee, etc. So it doesn’t matter which Beacon you have, most probably it’d be compatible with Find My Stuff and that’s another reason why this app can be used by anyone.

So here’s my verdict: before you start regretting for losing something permanently, get Find My Stuff. The app is available for free in the App Store.

Pros: add multiple items to track; compatible with most Beacons; instant notifications when lost or misplaced; check proximity range; one-tap Silent Mode; free.

Cons: none.

I give this app 4.5 out of 5 stars.
