iPhones and iPads have almost taken the place for camera in the picnic bag of a family. The images are crisp and clear, there is wide variety of shooting modes available and except one or two extra features in professional cameras; we can call them to be the same sides of the coin. But you can still find a lot of people using dedicated cameras instead of using their iPhone camera apps for their tours and trips. What’s the reason? What are these one or two features that imbalance the equilibrium on the side of the Camera? First of all, it’s obvious that an iPhone or iPad lacks the original clarity as found in a professional camera. But what affects more severely is that there’s no cover-up for such lack of promise. Moreover, it’s comparatively more difficult to use an iPad for capturing a slick shot. But it’s all the past; we didn’t have Camera Plus then!

I’m talking about the iOS app called Camera Plus that has been developed by Global Delight Technologies. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad and requires iOS 8.0 or any later version of the OS. This app has also been optimized for iPhone 5, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus and works on Apple Watch as well.

Camera Plus is not a single app but it’s a conglomerate of different tools aimed at specific purposes. First of all, we have AirSnap which allows you to connect two iOS devices and use one as the camera and the second as its remote control. It comes quite handy especially in your selfies. What happens in most of the group selfies is that in a move to cover all the faces, you have to adjust your hand in such a position that it becomes very difficult to tap the camera button. But now you can use a separate iOS device to capture it. The second device even carries a full preview of the shot in case the two devices are quite a distance apart.

Then we have the professional features – focus, Lumy and filters. With 3 different focus modes, you can always shift your focus from the far distant objects to those in your proximity with just a tap and get perfect shot each time. Lumy is another name for ‘perfect lighting’ and it automatically adjusts the lighting level according to the surroundings for both photos and videos. These features allow you to capture the intact and true colours of nature and society and preserve them as they are. But then we have filters which serve more than just “altering the truth”. They enhance the overall image in a way that every single element compliments the rest of the picture and the picture comes out as a whole.

Apart from all these stunning features, there are many more photo caption, soft flash, customizable button placement, etc. You can also book yourself a private folder with a Touch ID where all your images/videos are bound to stay secure.

The app is available for $1.99 in the App Store with some in-app purchases available as well.

Pros: AirSnap; Lumy; 3 different focus modes; beautiful filters; private folder; customizable button placement.

Cons: none.

I will give this app 4.5 out of 5 stars.
