Operating a mobile phone over computer is a little bit more difficult and though many would say that it’s more compact and easy to handle but when it comes to complex mechanisms and serious work then a computer is always the first preference. That’s why nowadays all the phones are USB compatible so that they can be connected to a computer and data can be transferred easily. Even we have Software that can help you to manage your phone from your computer and we have one such Software today in our review section. Let’s find out how much it scores on our meter!
I am talking about a computer application called Mobogenie. The app lets you connect your phone with your computer and manage it as well. But that’s something that many other Software do as well. So what difference does it bring on the table? The key points of difference in favour of Mobogenie are:
- In-app Mobogenie Apps Store
- Separate sections to download ringtones, wallpapers and games
- Exclusive integration of YouTube with the ability to download videos as well
- An in-app web browser with your favourite websites listed on the homepage
- Oneclick Root, Backup, Restore, etc
- Supercharger, charges your phone at a high speed when you connect your phone with computer
Now, let us deal with all these features one by one.
The in-app Mobogenie Apps Store is the most important one and the most unique factor as well. It’s the Android Market and it has almost all the apps that you can download to your phone. A great advantage of using this market for downloading apps is that the application is not directly installed but the .apk file of the app is downloaded to your computer. Then just connect your phone to the computer and you can install it directly using the Install App tool. So if in future you restore your phone, then you don’t need to download the app again as you can simply install it again using the same .apk file.
Next, there are separate sections for wallpapers and ringtones. There aren’t any dedicated stores for them on Android or any other platform and you can download anything from them for free. There are many good games as well available for free. So after installing Mobogenie, you can enjoy a lot of stuff for free. In fact, you can access YouTube videos from the app itself and you can download them as well. Yes! You can download any video directly and that as well in your desired quality.
There is a dedicated browser for you in the app and you can tag your favourite pages to the homepage for easy access. However, I didn’t found it of much use as if I’m using it on computer, I can easily access internet via my regular browser with almost the same features. Apart from that, I can backup all of my phone data with just one click including contacts, music, apps or just anything.
The user interface is also very neat and clean and is divided under phone manager and tools. The phone manager is the section where you can add content to your phone or export to your computer. You can add new contacts, delete them, import/export videos, etc. It mainly deals with what you see. However, the tools section handles the back-end mainly. But with all these positives, there are some negatives as well that I was able to underline. Let’s hear them as well.
First, the number of apps in their app store is very less compared to the original Android Play Store. Second, as I mentioned that you can download YouTube videos directly from the app, I don’t think it’ll be allowed in many countries where downloading copyrighted content from the web is banned. So it won’t be a good idea to use it in any such case. However, if rules are not so strict in your country, then it’s a boon for you.
You can also download the Mobogenie app in your Android Smartphone and you’ll get the same market as we have talked about here with almost the same interface. Then you can download YouTube videos directly to your phone and will be a great deal of help to you.
The Software is available for free on the web at www.mobogenie.com and you can download their Android version from the same address. So don’t forget to check it out.
Pros: intuitive UI; in-app Mobogenie Apps store; separate sections to download music, wallpapers and videos; backup, restore, import/export data; free.
Cons: downloading copyrighted content is banned in many countries and will not be the right choice for you.
I will give this app 4.5 out of 5 stars.
